How Barracuda SKOUT Managed XDR is Better Equipped to Protect SMBs Than Ever

How We Began Building THE Security Framework for MSPs

For far too long, small-and-medium sized businesses have had no one to turn to for their cyber emergencies. Without any structure in place to respond cyber-criminal activity, Managed Service Providers (MSPs) have come together to offer the protection that organizations of all sizes need.

When Barracuda SKOUT Managed XDR first appeared on the cyber landscape, our team noticed that security-centric MSPs still needed up-to-date Threat Intelligence to stay one step ahead of the latest exploits and vulnerabilities. But active threat hunting takes a lot of time, staff and resources that add up fast.

That’s why our Security Operations Center started releasing weekly Threat Advisories to help MSPs cut through the thousands of new cyber crimes to identify the compromises that were relevant to them and their clients.

And then we went one step further and set up a consistent process where our Analysts regularly update our monitoring solutions with the latest Indicators of Compromise so that our Partners can detect the latest cyber threats as they emerge.

Our Latest Ring of Protection

But there are no absolutes in security. If a vendor tells you that they can offer you protection against EVERY cyber threat and exploit, or that they’ll fulfill every compliance requirement you have, they’re lying through their teeth.

That’s why our development team has released an important update to make sure that our Partners can protect our end users despite any potential roadblocks they might run into.

Going forward, if a SKOUT Endpoint Protection installation runs into an error or fails, our Partners will be able to resolve any API problems by deploying a cached back-up of the software to defend endpoints until the issue is fixed.

The Road to Open XDR (and to the future)

But developing these new improvements is just the beginning. We have our sights set on integrating with every system. Cybersecurity does not have a one-size-fits-all solution, and every MSP will have different solutions to the same cyber problems.

So the answer, of course, is to make our XDR platform compatible with as many security products as we are humanly able.

And after a few months of development, we’ve released new firewall integrations with major vendors. Lots of our Partners are also using Palo Alto Networks, SonicWall, Cisco ASA & Umbrella, Meraki, WatchGuard and FortiGate, and we want to make sure they can make the most of their existing security investments.

Most importantly, MSPs are getting the visibility they need in one place, no matter which vendors they work with.

When you view each of these improvements and integrations on their own, they may not seem like much, but Barracuda MSP’s team is committed to making MSPs’ lives easier.

And we intend to keep innovating until Barracuda SKOUT Managed XDR is a truly open XDR platform and our Partners can bring their own solutions if they want to.
